Southpoint Shopping Centre is a multi-use shopping complex located to the east of the locality, acting as something of a commercial and social centre for the suburb and surrounding area. Also within the area is Matraville Public School, named for Matraville, a suburb which Hillsdale was part of until the 1960s.
