Tasmania, (TAS), is an island state of Australia. It is located 240 km to the south of the Australian mainland, separated from it by Bass Strait. The state encompasses the main island of Tasmania, the 26th-largest island in the world, and the surrounding 1000 islands, almost all of which are uninhabited apart from the prolific wildlife. TAS has some of the world’s most unpolluted and pristine air, land, and water, leading to exceptional standards of produce from fruit to seafood, to meat, vegetables, and world-class wine. The capital Hobart is like stepping back in time with many faithfully restored sandstone buildings from the early settlement days onwards. Hobart is also home to the exceptional and famous Museum of Old and New Art (MONA).
