Queensland (QLD) is an Australian state covering the continent’s northeast, with a southern border with NSW and a western border with the Northern Territory. At Cameron Corner in the south-west, three states meet being QLD, NSW, and SA. QLD’s coastline stretches nearly 7,000km to the “far north” which is mostly the area above the Tropic of Capricorn. Its offshore Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest coral reef system, hosts thousands of marine species and islands. The city of Cairns is a gateway to the reef and tropical Daintree Rainforest, being the oldest rainforest on earth at 150 million years. The capital, Brisbane, is flanked by the surfing beaches of the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. Queenslanders are well-known for their relaxed attitude to everyday life, perhaps due to the ever-present sunshine and particularly mild winters, even in southern QLD.

Property Outlook
Brisbane’s property market has seen similar high levels of activity as Sydney and Hobart as evidenced by an 18% rise since the start of the year to early September. However, Brisbane is a more fractured market in that the growth in home unit prices is quite low at less than 8%, compared to houses. Regional Queensland on the other hand has seen the highest levels of activity in over 10 years with increase over the year to date averaging above 20%. Hot spots such as Noosa, Gold Coast, and Cairns in far north Queensland, have risen by 25%. New listings in QLD are at historic low levels which should see continuing price rises especially when the borders to NSW and VIC are re-opened.
