Epping, a suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, was first settled by Europeans in 1792. A train station, now known as Epping Railway Station but initially called Field of Mars, opened in 1886, with a post office following 3 years later. The name Epping was adopted in 1899, finding its roots in the town of Epping in Essex, England.
